Welcome
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center was originally established in 1924 as a settlement house and was the center of the north Minneapolis African American community prior to World War II.
Today Phyllis Wheatley Community Center is culturally responsive and provides quality programs in life-long learning for children, youth, adults, as well as family services for the diverse greater Minneapolis community.
Community-Based Holistic &
Comprehensive Support & Services
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center draws people and resources together to advance personal leadership and help build better lives. Located in north Minneapolis, we work with low-income residents in our community and beyond.
Our asset-based, culturally specific approach to services allows individuals and families to grow their strengths. Core program focus areas include early childhood education, youth development, and adult empowerment.
For almost one hundred years, Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has been a place to gather. We continuously work to identify and meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
